The GoodYear Blimp is Returning to SoCal at the End of this Month!

We thought the GoodYear Blimp was gone for good after bidding farewell in March, but everyone’s favorite Zepplin will return at the end of October.

The Wingfoot Two, the new technologically-advanced airship, has already started its 2,600 mile expedition from Akron, Ohio, to Southern California. The blimp should arrive in Long Beach on October 26th.

This airship is different from the previous one, with a frame that will keep it afloat even when the helium is drained. It also is much larger, faster, and much quieter.

"This is an exciting milestone for Goodyear as we look forward to introducing our new generation of Goodyear blimps to the west coast and engaging fans along our tour route to create new memories of the Goodyear Blimp across America," said Paul Fitzhenry, Goodyear's senior vice president, Global Communications.

According to Market Insider, the tour will include stops in Indianapolis; St. Louis; Fayetteville, Ark.; Lawton, Okla.; Lubbock, Texas; Deming, N.M.; Tucson, Ariz.; and Blythe, Calif.

Fans are encouraged to welcome Wingfoot Two to their towns via social media by using the hashtags #WelcomeWingfoot2 and #BlimpGoesWest.

Goodyear has operated blimps in Southern California for over 90 years, and delivered the first live aerial feed to a transcontinental telecast over the Rose Parade and Rose Bowl in 1955.
